Today we celebrated the official opening of the Downtown Streets Team in the Mission, which I pushed for in our budget. While I think this is a good thing, why are people who are doing the work that city employees have failed to do not being paid a wage and the other benefits that city employees receive? We don’t pay stipends to the other city employees - they get wages.

Homeless people need and deserve rest, not further punishment exacted on their bodies like this. You make me embarrassed to be a San Franciscan.
