Losing a license can make it impossible to get a job or even pick up your kids from school. Suspending licenses for missed traffic court dates was bad policy that disproportionately hurt low-income residents. I've lived in SF for 11 years without a car and get around just fine. How about a city program that matches the $55 license reinstate fee with a credit that can be used towards the purchase of a bicycle or other form of sustainable transportation.
