I understand that this article is from the perspective of a family member, but the family member's concern should not be a consideration when conserving a person. In addition, the argument that a person's disability somehow dissolves their civil rights is insulting and dangerous.

There are already strong conservatorship laws on the books, why expand them? To conserve more ppl. Why conserve more ppl? What's clear is the mayor wants to get "these ppl" off the streets. I'm guessing for various reasons. Some altruistic, and probably some not so much...

Dont just dump them on supportive housing providers, which is what a lot of case workers do. Many of these folks need intensive services and constant support, yet most permanent supportive housing is independent living with voluntary non-clinical services.

Is this a joke? Have you been looking at the streets? Quit handing out needles & not prosecuting drug use. Quit allowing sleeping on public property & encampment on private property. Defecating & urinating in public is a crime & safety hazard. What about the rats?
