When you give massive tax breaks to lure business, you cause an artificial gold rush, which in turn wildly distorts the market. Our housing crisis, the deepening inequality, the homelessness and despair on our streets, they are symptoms of policy failure, not root causes.

Forget housing make the city safer. Crackdown on petty crime. I had a friend from Brooklyn visit and was ashamed of the indecency we saw. Nudity, drug use, urination and even saw a woman get her phone snatched from her hands. No one wants to live near that!

We need a reckoning of all the people who can afford to stay in market rate homes who are living in low income housing. I have tons of friends who commute from Vallejo and Stockton as SF is too expensive. Renters need to show proof of low income to stay in rent controlled units.
