If an earthquake displaced residents of neighborhoods like Pacific Heights, would the city not create emergency shelters for them? Then, why do you not have the same imperative for the thousands sleeping on our streets during this current crisis?
We know that the next major earthquake can hit at any time and every day we should be working to prepare for it. I share your urgency. I introduced legislation declaring a shelter crisis, which will allow us to bypass the usual bureaucracy to build shelters & contract for services more quickly. You mean SF doesn’t already have a comprehensive plan? How is it possible that one of the richest cities on earth, close to a relatively active fault line, does not have a comprehensive plan? When is the deadline for finalization of this plan?
