Recently we learned that the City is recognizing an unexpected windfall of $415 million dollars. I'm committed to taking immediate action to address the housing & homelessness crises while we wait for more sustainable funding to become available:https://medium.com/@LondonBreed/making-a-difference-on-homelessness-and-affordable-housing-22fc8577706f …

My plan for the remaining $181 million would create over 900 new units of affordable housing, preserve & improve over 1,000 units of existing affordable housing, create 300 new spaces in shelters & Navigation Centers, & open 86 behavioral health and substance abuse hospital beds.

Here's how that $181 million would be spent: $42 million would provide funding for approximately 255 new affordable rental units for formerly homeless adults and seniors. $6 million would support predevelopment for affordable housing sites, an estimated 370 units.

$9 million would upgrade over 1,000 existing units at Potrero and Sunnydale public housing, focusing on life-safety, health, and habitability improvements. $30 million would fund 300 new units of permanent supportive housing.

$11 million would fund the expansion of operations at existing Navigation Centers, an estimated 110 beds. $9 million would fund 14 additional behavioral health beds at SF Healing Center at St. Mary's Hospital. $10 million would fund 72 additional substance use recovery beds.
