This is a serious question. When someone comes in to these safe injection sites with heroin (which is an illegal drug), will you just let this person do heroin? So wouldn’t this bring more drug dealers to the city because we now allow people to do their illegal drugs legally?

Seems like the city of SF is setting a precedent for not prosecuting illegal drug use. So now are you going to extend that to all illegal drug users? Or does that only apply to heroin users who are using your injection sites? Will you please answer this question?

Then you should be lobbying your friend @NancyPelosi to do this on a national level, because if this is only in SF, it will be a siren call for more opioid users to come here. Don’t we have enough of them from elsewhere?

Agree about the status quo. However safe injection sites are not treatment. We need both to make our streets & our people safe & healthy. Please don’t equate ‘connecting’ people to actual addiction treatment. There have been no new treatment beds in our city for years.

This is insane. A junkie is not going to travel/walk/bus to a safe injection site, just to shoot up. You’ll have all the needles on the streets that you already have, and all of the other problems that go with with drug abuse. Hey, maybe we’ll get some newcomers!
