Looking into it, it only takes 6 to 8 weeks to sail from england to florida. A trip from iceland to NS wouldnt take that long at all.

People didn't live in Iceland until recently
-
the vikings did awhile ago
-
Yeah, like 1300 years ago. Rome had already collapsed when the first human was born in Iceland.
-
And you're sure of this how?
-
Its far away from the rest of Europe, and its cold and much less fertile. The Scandanavians at least have sagas about colonizing it and maybe written records too. No human bones have ever been found there from before the Vikings.
-
It would have been very hard to get there, harder to live there, and there would be evidence of civilizations there before. Even today Iceland has only 300,000 people, 234th in population densitypic.twitter.com/oxBJE55tv0

However it's possible Irish monks went there to live in solitude a century or two before the Vikings.
