in my opinion as a horological autist, the dial-in style of wear is unlikely for someone with a panda dial. the high contrast subdials are an ostentatious design touch and someone who favors them would keep the dial visible

additionally, the subdials imply (without exception) a chronograph, which in turn implies (very strongly) protruding pushers which are unusually uncomfortable for the dial-in style of wear
