This work was done by our PhD Student, Katie Best, and it follows up on her work from last year (10.1096/fj.201900130RR) that traced the localization of Scx cells during healing, and found that these cells resided within the bridging tissue of the repair.

In this work she depleted Scx-Lineage cells prior to healing, with the expectation that this would be catastrophic.pic.twitter.com/xVZNZeLp4v

Much to our surprise, depletion of these cells actually improved mechanical aspects of healing, and did not disrupt formation of the bridging ECM.pic.twitter.com/qtQ6sCpDj3

In addition to healing, we also looked at the potential impact of Scx-Lineage cell depletion on pre-pubertal tendon growth and adult homeostasis.
