The "fully costed" Labour manifesto costings don't include a single penny for nationalising energy, rail, water and Royal Mail. Not a penny.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Straw_man I advocate nationalisation of basic utilities for which there is a universal need. i.e. Health, Transport, Utilities

Er, post?
-
When it comes to post, I personally would support a 51-49% deal for part privatisation with government majority.
-
So basic stuff and then other random things too?
-
Yet another straw-man. Keep them coming. As I've said, services for which there is a basic utility. The public also rely on postal services
-
2) but not nearly to the same extent as the public need to use energy. Hence a measured and calculated approach to consolidating utilities
-
The public need food a lot. Will you nationalise farms and supermarkets?
-
So long as the private market can provide affordable food, there's no reason to. Railways, energy and postal service has failed the public.
-
But hey, so long as we're all on a
@wallaceme income, everything's fine! Oh wait, you haven't seen a hard day's work in your life. - 8 more replies

But when the cost of government borrowing is lower than business return on capital, the more we nationalise the more we save. Right?
-
£3Bill in profit was generated by energy companies. I can't imagine it'll take long to recoup the amount borrowedhttp://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/energy-companies-make-record-profits-7110015 …
-
If there is a universal need for a basic utility, there's no reason why costs should be passed on to consumer for profits to go to the top.
-
Saying state ownership is cheaper because there's no profits is naive and totally contradicted by history.
-
Instead of telling me it's naive, try explaining *how* you think my policy initiatives can't work if you disagree

And Tesco?

Where the private sector can provide and regulate, there's no need for government control. Would you privatise healthcare and schools?
-
Absolutely!
-
You do realise those aren't Conservative policies right?
