Today I'm introducing legislation to ban the use of tear gas, rubber bullets, pepper spray and other "less-lethal" munitions in response to demonstrations. This is the start, not the end, of repairing trust, and reimagining policing and public safety.

As more voters cast their ballot by mail, states will need time to ensure every vote is counted before announcing results - because every vote MUST be counted. We might not know the results of the election on November 3rd, and that’s okay.

Going back to slavery, public policy has created substandard conditions for Black people. Whether we’re talking about unequal outcomes in housing, education, jobs, or medical care, systemic racism is always at the root--and government has an obligation to undo what it created.

Tonight the Cambridge City Council passed ordinances to create 20+ miles of protected bike lanes & many new affordable housing units. Local gov’t can sometimes feel slow, confusing, and frustrating to engage with. But not tonight—these will be big, impactful changes

1 per county. That's 1 ballot box for nearly 5 million people. That's 1 ballot box for an area 6 times the size of Rhode Island. Or put another way, that's an abuse of power by someone afraid of letting the people vote. He's clearly not alone, but we cannot let them win.
