"Bisexuality is a threat to TERF politics for 3 key reasons; it undermines the importance of gender differences, it undermines the idea that any woman would choose a man-free life if she could, it makes it much harder to construct a desexualised universalised essence of womanhood

There's a lot else I could have said about how the terf/cultural feminist sanitized version of womanhood is mostly middle-class, white, abled, & how this helps them create a veneer of "civilized debate" to their hate speech that gets eaten up by mainstream press

This is not a new fight; we've had it before & we sort of won the first time round. That means there's lots of resources of critics of terf/cultural feminism & womanhood. Of course, knowing the theory isn't our best weapon, but it can help.

Also, obvs it's not just bi/pan & trans people who don't fit into their sanitized version of womanhood, sex workers and kinksters are both notable categories (and it's not a coincidence that those groups overlap a lot).

This article is so interesting, my mum, a pretty active transphobe, is also aggressively not okay with me being bisexual
-
Eugh, I'm really sorry you have to deal with that

I'm a bisexual woman who thought she was straight until last June, when I fell in love with my trans girlfriend. Now ex-girlfriend, sadly. I've ripped people who tried to tell me I was still straight. My period had synced with hers; she is very much a woman!
