Let’s not forget that these are students who attend NU to learn. So...this is a perfect time to learn. Protests are public events. They are vital to our democracy. Publishing journalistically sound stories about a protest is equally vital.
The reporters did the job they were supposed to do. Not sure what kind of trauma is being referred to but people who attend a public demonstration have to understand that their presence is news. The editors’ allegiance should be to the First Amendment.

As a Medill alum, I want to make sure that at a time when journalism and its standards are under threat we are not adding to the problem. Student reporters/editors need to be on the right side of that battle.
