I was raped at Yale. I was groped at parties in DKE’s house—#Kavanaugh’s fraternity at Yale—and was told as a freshman to avoid their “rape basement.” Multiple dear friends were raped by Yale DKE brothers & by boys from elite prep schools. I believe Ramirez. #BelieveSurvivorshttps://twitter.com/NewYorker/status/1044011379223670784 …

Meanwhile at @Yale, a known white supremacist and current divinity school student is vandalizing bulletin boards supporting rape survivors. No comment on this from Yale, where 46% of women experience sexual assault by their senior year. #TimesUp #MeToo https://yaledailynews.com/blog/2018/10/01/div-school-student-vandalizes-posters-supporting-sexual-assault-victims/ …pic.twitter.com/mkIoKhUK1U

I am sorry. 💔 I went to a couple frat parties at Yale in ‘81. I have been struggling to remember details and I really can’t - I am sure I was inebriated but beyond that unclear. I do remember ending up in the living room of one by myself. I am a victim of other assaults & I

I have never felt strong. Only self-protective. I had to face my first assaulter, my father when I was 14. I had to stop him bc no one else would - he called me a liar. Maybe I was strong 4 that 1 moment. I am lucky. I am here. Doing what I want to do & hopefully helping others

Wtf! Are USA women really that subjugated to not rise and report? Is it really that dangerous? Seriously. Is this lack of reporting documented by the media? So disturbed by this. Naive? No. Decent.

For every 1000 rapes in the United States, 310 are deported to the police. Of those, 57 lead to an arrest, and 11 get referred to prosecutors. Of those 11, 7 will lead to a felony conviction, and only 6 rapists will be incarcerated. https://www.rainn.org/statistics/criminal-justice-system … 1/

Meanwhile, those who do report sexual assault face brutal retraumitizations, from police who often don’t understand how trauma fragments memories, to prosecutors who base their case on discrediting the women and smearing their characters. All for very very slim chance at justice

I was drugged by my ex who took photos of me without my knowledge or consent. When I discovered the revenge porn I had to report it, for other women, one of the most traumatic things I’ve done talking to the police rehashing that trauma.

I do it because these predators will not stop. They get energy in some sick and twisted way to hurt others. Fucking deviant behaviors these people who do this. I turned that shit into a positive. Lots of therapy bills later to speak up about these crimes.

Have to ask: why hasn’t the National chapter of DKE shut this house down? This environment is toxic, & apparently has been for decades. And it looks like the DKEs just accept this as status quo. Maybe the prep boys are encouraged to join this frat to further their rape culture.😡

I have never personally verified this, but I was told multiple times in college that national fraternities aren’t allowed to shut down their founding chapters, and DKE was founded at Yale. Also, strong alumni network (Bush, Schwarzmann, etc)

That happened the semester I got to Yale for their “No means Yes, Yes Means Anal” and “We love Yale Sluts.” All it meant in practice was they had to use gmails instead of yale email addresses. Technically DKE was “suspended” my entire time at Yale. You’d never know.

I call for the outlawing of all fraternities & sororities. These groups cause severe harm to many people. My brother went to MIT & pledged Kappa Sigma. This destroyed the close relationship we had as brothers. When he came home after his very first semester, he was a stranger.

My brother pledged at fraternity AND Singing Cadets the same semester at Texas A&M the same semester. Stupid move, but the fraternity is what nearly broke him. He lost his scholarship for a semester and I feel like I lost him then. Bright side, he made some lifelong friends.
