    Thanks to the polio vaccine, the U.S. has been polio-free for 40 years. So people may not remember the rooms filled with iron lungs, which kept polio patients alive, at least for a while, when the virus paralyzed their breathing muscles.pic.twitter.com/wttmSbHJgB

        Are you sure this is a good reason to get vaccinated? 😔😉 I sure am thankful (now) for standing in line at the community center when I was 3 and 4 years old, to get various immunizations.

        Honey there were polio wards like this around the world for years. There's an old iron lung in a museum in London if you're in doubt. The polio wards were the start of mechanical ventilation and ICU care.
