2/ Here's the Strava statement in full: Our global heatmap represents an aggregated and anonymized view of over a billion activities uploaded to our platform. It excludes activities that have been marked as private and user-defined privacy zones.

They won’t get sued for shit. It’ll be in the EULA somewhere and I guarantee that’s agreed to regularly any time a change is made.

They’ll look into it, but it won’t go far. It’s an app downloaded and used by individuals agreeing to terms of use.

What shit? They sell a product that generates data. They shared the data, which was theirs to share freely. That some don’t like the things that data shows doesn’t mean they’re “in shit.”

If active US military/intelligence assets are using GPS-tracking apps while on covert missions that is an operational security failing for the military; the app provider can't be blamed for their idiocy

This is true, but the app provider also has a responsibility not to be stupid. No one at Strava realized that this release could be more damaging to global opsec than the OPM pop or any Wikileaks drop?
