CRP based programs have been around since the 50s. The government pays farmers not to grow crops, but things like seasonal grasses, or pollination blends of wildflowers instead. Biden wants to add 4 million acres to this program, topping it off around 25mil.

Under the guise of helping the wildlife, farmers are to leave their land for a period of 10 years with very minimal maintenance. 1 year of flooding or drought with that many acres enrolled, could be catastrophic to our food chain.
