I've seen the scourged earth attitude destroy people just by proximity and the people responsible just path themselves on the back because "we got the bad guy". It shows what their real values are, total war isn't the way @sarahmei

Americans in general have this broken way of thinking about victory at all costs, drag you in the pool and hold my breath longer type of deal. I kinda admire it, but not when you're dragging a whole critically essential movement with you just to get one asshole

So what if RMS is a scumbag, we can gracefully retire him to obscurity along with others like him without derailing the whole movement in self-righteous typical American total war campaign. Cleaning house is one thing and necessary, burning it down completely another
