    So why is this never raised as a factor in the 2:1 gender disparity in depression and anxiety? Instead neuroscientists like to pin it on estrogen, or the amygdala. But poverty is not gender neutral.

    Wow, this is stunning. Then again, you can find plenty of pseudointellectuals today on podcasts saying pretty much the same thing about intellectual traits of men vs. women.

    I'm imagining someone today going on a talk show and arguing what Rushton did and I'm dying. (Are Maury, Springer, and Steve still on?)

    Wow, what a goldmine! Interesting to see the variation in sex difference across languages.

    I recommend you don't preorder our book, "Variability and Consistency in Early Language Learning: The Wordbank Project" – it's free online: . But I'm still really excited to see it up on Amazon and love reading blurbs from three of my intellectual heroes.

    E-S is behavior, with many social and genetic determinants, not evidence of a male or female *brain*. Please don't over-neuralize without evidence. Brain sex difference is generally lost in the noise of other individual structural & functional variance:

    Hi Lise. Big data (below) support the extreme male brain (EMB) theory. People tend to read the words EMB but not the theory’s claims or evidence, so it’s easily misinterpreted. I now use the empathising-systemising (E-S) theory’s more neutral terminology

    Very painful to think about. I researched my undergrad thesis in these Cambridge archives and held every document with reverence (and gloves). It doesn't get lower than this (in academia, anyway).

    Whoever stole Darwin's notebooks from Cambridge University has stolen from all of us. Disgusting.

    Study of Mosuo society, split by kinship norms, finds: matrilineal Mosuo->women lower chronic disease than men patrilineal Mosuo->women higher chronic disease than men Matrilineal means women have more autonomy bc wealth is passed from mothers to daughters

    Portland, OR will make voluntary preschool free for 3 & 4 yr olds. Paid for by taxing highest income earners. Preschool workers will be paid a living wage. The entire US needs this--to enable mothers who dropped out of the workforce to go back to work.

    Well duh! He’s smarter and also more helpful than she should be.

    Teaching eval bias: A female teaching assistant posed as male to half the students & female to the other half in an online class. The male TA got 98% positive reviews; female TA=91%. (N=115). Of 6 negative perceptions reported, 5 were for the female TA.
