I shared why I support the Fair Chance Housing Act. Housing reduces recidivism, half of our nation's children have at least 1 parent with criminal system involvement. When you served your time, or haven't been found guilty, you shouldn't be punished again. bit.ly/3zm2H60

In 2021, 68.9% of gun deaths in Washington were suicides. The requiring of safety training and an extended waiting period as part of the purchase process is proven to make an impact on both the firearm homicide and suicide rates. This policy will save lives 👏

Wage equity for human service workers is essential as this will allow for a strong pool of workers willing to take on mission critical work such as operating shelters and affordable housing and caring for children.

The Seattle Times recently reported on a study that demonstrates that the law’s repeal did not cause helmet usage to drop. This is excellent news 👏

Last year, I voted to repeal a law requiring helmet usage for bicyclists. There was evidence that the law was being used a pretext for law enforcement to stop people, and that those stops were disproportionately borne by people of color and people experiencing homelessness.

A study published by the Violence & Injury Prevention Unit this month finds bicycle helmet use in King County remains high following the Board of Health repeal of the 30-year-old law last year.
