I shared why I support the Fair Chance Housing Act. Housing reduces recidivism, half of our nation's children have at least 1 parent with criminal system involvement. When you served your time, or haven't been found guilty, you shouldn't be punished again. bit.ly/3zm2H60

In 2021, 68.9% of gun deaths in Washington were suicides. The requiring of safety training and an extended waiting period as part of the purchase process is proven to make an impact on both the firearm homicide and suicide rates. This policy will save lives 👏

Last year, I voted to repeal a law requiring helmet usage for bicyclists. There was evidence that the law was being used a pretext for law enforcement to stop people, and that those stops were disproportionately borne by people of color and people experiencing homelessness.

A study published by the Violence & Injury Prevention Unit this month finds bicycle helmet use in King County remains high following the Board of Health repeal of the 30-year-old law last year. For free and low-cost bike helmets: bit.ly/freelowcosthel seattletimes.com/seattle-news/t

For Mr. Nichols’s family, for Memphis, and for all who question – in the face of such horrific violence – how to have trust in the oversight of those charged with our safety, I call on us all to join the call for a thorough & transparent investigation and to do so peacefully.

Recently, elected officials met with community leaders, City departments and the Mayor’s office to learn more about the impacts of recent flooding in South Park. I appreciate how seriously they're taking this, as a long-term solution will require intergovernmental collaboration

We're very concerned about the steep rise in respiratory illnesses in King County. Everyone 6m+ should get a flu shot & people 5+ a COVID booster. Masks protect against all respiratory illnesses & if sick - even if it's mild or you've tested negative for COVID - please stay home!
