One of the greatest parts of this campaign and @PeteButtigieg himself is that he listens and he adapts and he changes. May we all be so wise. #PeteForAmerica

I have to admit I didn’t know this about the term “Pharisee” and am glad to have learned.
-
I didn’t either and so appreciated the opportunity to learn as well.

I’m a
@PeteButtigieg supporter, and while we're at it, I’d like the campaign to stop using Person of Color. The phrase denotes “ethnic ambiguity” that reinforces Whiteness as a dominant construct. Get comfortable with Black, African American, Latino, and other specific terms. Thx -
Thank you for this. I’ve been wondering which is more respectful. This whole thread is full of grace. It’s a refreshing change.

I'm sorry, it's just been a while since I've witnessed a mature, decent, civil, response, it's gonna take me a minute to process.

A president who can actually listen to constructive criticism, internalize it, and act on it? What planet is this.

Wow. A political campaign that doesn’t respond with insults and even better, listens. Why I like Mayor Pete and his team.

I clicked all the way through and truly learned something. I naively believed that Pharisee wars a form of clergy and not an entire sect. Now I know and so does
@PeteButtigieg. Thank you for explaining! -
Same
not only did he learn but this was a teaching moment for so many more. Building bridges is exactly what this country needs right now.

This is absurd. 99% of Jews would not view that reference as anti-Semitic. Let’s save the righteous indignation for the real hate on the rise in the far Right & Left, not for guys like
@PeteButtigieg who are leading the nation to a more civil, empathetic, & informed dialogue. -
“I am personally ignorant of a specific example of antisemitism” does not translate to “99 percent of Jews agree with me.”

I love the "listening and adjusting" approach. No one can be perfect. And admitting that and moving on is such a refreshing concept.

What would be really great is if he could publicly state this now that he has contributed to the normalizing of the term.
-
Thank you. And a real apology not a restating of the offensive way that the term is used.
-
I hear you on mentioning it, however I was unfamiliar with the word until today. If she had left it vague, I (or others) might not have known—and therefore known *not* to use, if heard in the future under the wrong context. This way it was educating.
