Why can we be so certain it will come in 2023? If we look at the costs, this is the breakdown. Given that has invested over $1bn into OpenAI, can assume its happening anytime between 2023-2024 (and with ChatGPT being out) it's more likely it's in 2023.

The technology is potentially so powerful, it's hard to really know what it will be capable of. Even if I and others are wrong in the predictions, the thing that's signal here is how close we are.

The really tech-savvy folks already know this, and if you start connecting the dots, FSD from Tesla, GPT4 from OpenAI with other AI breakthroughs, we can pretty soon dream up things we just a few months ago thought were not gonna happen until 2040.
