Well-deserved Congressional Gold Medal awarded to my dear friend @SenatorDole. Bob was my national campaign chairman when I first ran for the Senate. He has been helpful to me at every step of the way.

He was a giant of the Senate, Republican nominee for president, and a war hero. Most importantly, @SenatorDole has always remained that decent, hardworking, great sense of humor young man from Kansas. Congratulations Bob and Elizabeth.

I'm a Dem. Back when Bob Dole was fundraising for the WW2 Memorial I sent a donation in the name of my dad, also a WW2 combat vet. Got a nice note back from Mr. Dole. Never forgot it.
