This is a brazen power grab by the Democratic Party to change the makeup of Congress in a manner detrimental to South Carolina and every other state,. It’s truly a shame Democrats in Washington are trying to corrupt the very construct of our nation for raw political purposes.
At its core this is about trying to add two more Democratic votes in the U.S. Senate, effectively cancelling out the votes of a state like South Carolina with two Republican Senators. This effort must be defeated and I will fight against it with all my might.
Hmm...so you're saying GOP can't win in DC? That granting statehood somehow is a ploy for only democrats to gain more senators? Hmmm...what is it? Why couldn't the GOP appeal to the citizens of Washington? You seem to think the answer is black and white. Oh wait..you're right.
Just as easily as it can be said it’s political for Dems to pass it, it is equally political for the GOP to deny it (along with all other territories that vote to join). Difference being the GOP can’t win any of them, so they are restricting admission based on their base.

At it's core this about making sure that every American citizen is fully represented in the senate. Meanwhile Puerto Rico remains unrepresented(no senators, no electoral college votes) yet actively pays taxes(Even though they don't have to) And has also voted to become a state in numerous referendums.
