I met yesterday with members of the South Carolina School Boards Association about educational needs in South Carolina and throughout the country.

They presented to me an interesting idea: we should start a national effort to put Wi-Fi on school buses so kids could have access to learning while traveling to and from school. We will look closer into this cause. It may be money well spent in the 21st century.

Or we could: - pay teachers well; - fund our schools' infrastructure; - make sure that schools have working equipment and updated books; - avoid teachers having to spend their own (paltry) earnings on classroom materials. But, go ahead. Wi-Fi, Lindsay.

I am a teacher and I can assure you that the last thing I would think of to improve schools would be Wi-Fi on the buses.

Maybe kids need that time as on opportunity to develop interpersonal skills and learn how to manage relationships instead of isolating in front of a screen.

Do we really believe that if we give kids Wi-Fi on school buses they’ll use it for educational purposes? And is the bus driver suppose to enforce this policy if one is instituted?

Of course not! Plus the driver can't keep their eyes on what the kids are doing...
