There has been a conflict between Turkey and the Kurdish forces for 30+ years. The ISIS issue has been 99% resolved, yet you want 2000 US forces to stay in place as a deterrent for a ISIS resurgence. Mr. Trump is right to remove US forces from the region. A US presence no more.

How else would you say it in so few words? ISIS was a scourge that needed to be obliterated from the world. Don't forget that ISIS came about by the power vacuum created by attempted regime changes by past administrations. So yes, it was very much a issue.
