When it comes to Iran we have lost deterrence. To Pentagon planners: a weak response over this outrageous Iranian aggression only invites more aggression. It will also eventually lead to a nuclear arms race in the Middle East. Be Strong Now or pay a Bigger Price Later.
I hope (but have my doubts) that Pentagon planners are giving President Trump a wide range of options that would punish Iran and restore deterrence. There are steps between being weak and total war.

Shouldn't we expect the Saudis to handle this themselves? It was their refinery that was bombed and they've purchased enough military hardware to get the job done. What's the point of selling them military equipment if we fight their battles for them?
Bad enough the GOP tries to get us into war when we're sticking up for countries facing a bigger aggressor... but if the Saudis can't stand up to Iran on their own, they shouldn't be messing with Yemen. How about instead of fighting for the Saudis, we stand up for Ukraine?
Perhaps the planners in the Pentagon have a better understanding of what a war in Iran or Syria would look like than a blow hard chicken hawk from South Carolina.
And if there's anyone who knows weak, it's you.
I trust the Pentagon planners over a Chicken Hawk Senator. The Syrian response was measured and correct. As was the Iranian drone response.

Why not let the Saudis deal with it. America First means USA is not responsible for being the world's police force. Get the hell out of the middle east, and let them fix their own problems.
