I recommend taking a look at @Stl_Manifest for a reminder of the similarities—what can happen when we decide asylum seekers and refugees should be someone else’s problem. In 2009, the Senate apologized for turning away the refugees on the MS St Louis.https://www.congress.gov/bill/111th-congress/senate-resolution/111/text …

I come from a family or survivors and victims. Please understand, Senator, that the rise of fascism - as the
@AuschwitzMuseum has eloquently stated - is the beginning that leads to gruesome ends. 1/ -
That there are over 14k children in camps, that two year olds are ‘defending’ themselves in courts, making a mockery of justice, should show you where we are in this process.

Do you know how the Holocaust started? Camps that my family were gassed in weren’t opened the first day. It started with “othering”, ghettos, etc. It’s a slow march and we are on it. Talk to my grandma, 92 and survived 4 years in Auschwitz. I’ll set up a lunch.

As a Holocaust educator, I know these comparison are too similar to ignore. You don’t need gas chambers to “cull” the sick, elderly, disabled, immigrant from society. Trump does it with policy. He has scapegoated & deemed these people a burden on our economy. A Nazi philosophy.

If you study the Holocaust more deeply, you’d see the striking similarities. Trump in his own words believes he has superior genes. He divides humanity into two categories: winners & losers. Right now you seem to be labeled “useful” to trump, but it may not always be so. Wise up.

I recommend you listen to the survivors of the Holocaust when they say that many of the actions Trump is taking remind them of actions Hitler took leading up to the Holocaust.https://www.rgj.com/story/news/2018/08/20/holocaust-survivors-president-trump-zero-tolerance-policy-world-war-ii/1004809002/ …

...and historians who study that time period agree. The Holocaust didn't just happen one day. Events preceded it. Events strikingly familiar in Trump's America.https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/posteverything/wp/2018/07/16/its-not-wrong-to-compare-trumps-america-to-the-holocaust-heres-why/?utm_term=.5f6bc7e54297 …
