These statements tonight by @POTUS will allow us to move forward to more effectively secure our 2018 election and deal with threats coming from Russia and other potential bad actors.

My initial thoughts were exactly like yours, but maybe Lindsay is trying to be strategic. When Trump is criticized he gets belligerent. Maybe Lindsay is trying to show support so Trump administration will put into place protections for the November elections. That would smart.
