“There are many systems that try to make me feel like I made a mortal mistake in speaking the truth: that continue to victimize women or to truncate us, or to put me on the ground to draw a chalk line around my body. That needs to change for future women."

A young woman, styled to the nines, just walked by me and said, “you’re a vibe” and kept walking. Normalize being nice to olds!!! Cannot tell me nothing for the foreseeable future.

Clear example of the kinds of financial abuse and misuse of taxpayer funds to stifle those that are brave enough to speak up, that is also rampant in sport.

What happened inside New York nursing homes in the spring of 2020 should be treated as a category 5 disaster.

Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson is more than qualified to be a Supreme Court Justice. I'm beyond frustrated watching this hearing. This is just one example of how women, esp Black women, are expected to remain patient & collected even when they're attacked, interrupted & undermined.

Cuomo told his staff not to worry, their legal fees would be “covered” by New York as they testified in the sexual harassment investigation. Meanwhile, I’ve spent hundreds of thousands of dollars defending myself against this perpetrator’s lies & smears. More abuse of power.

This essay for is the hardest thing I’ve ever written. It took me four years to finish. I wrote it for us. I believe in us. I’m fighting for us. We are not going anywhere.

This by on how profoundly Democrats stranded KBJ, is good. (Though I think in addition to Booker today, Hirono fought back yesterday)

Don't forget Chartock's friendly and regular one-on-one chats with Andrew Cuomo—in one I remember Chartock asked Cuomo whether he had called a woman whose number he had passed on

"The company deceived users with a promotion that claimed to support local restaurants during the heart of the pandemic. But in reality, this program cut into struggling restaurants’ profit margins while padding Grubhub’s bottom line.”

"Let’s be honest: A system that condemns a 16-year-old kid to Rikers Island based on a false allegation of stealing a backpack needs a complete overhaul." The governor’s plan will create more Kalief Browders

As these excerpts from the new report by the federal monitor makes clear, is a human rights catastrophe happening in New York City. The details are a nightmare. It’s an emergency and should be treated as such.

I would love to watch a show that was 3 days of questioning senators to see if they are qualified for their job.

Hatred is most virulent in the final, ragged gasps. “Segregation now, segregation forever!” could not stop God’s justice. Fierce love will not be broken. Racist howls will not have the final word.

I will never get over how a year after Black Lives Matter brought millions to the streets more than 30 states have introduced laws to ban *teaching about not just race but Black people* and democratic leadership has *nothing* to say about it.

As everyone talks about a case the Manhattan DA is not prosecuting, I’m working night court representing people who are being prosecuted for possession of a crack pipe or theft of salami. And the Manhattan DA continues to ask for bail for poor people. TWO SYSTEMS OF JUSTICE.

Your daily reminder: Jail & prison does not deter crime. Jail & prison is criminogenic. Jail & prison increases recidivism. Jail & prison is violent. Jail & prison creates violence. Jail & prison decreases public safety. Invest in communities.
