Dusty old books? Maybe for some people. But our approach to scripture can make all the difference. And it can be nothing short of transformative.

Forgiveness is a way to participate in others’ transformation — their transfiguration. We participate in making them perfect, ultimately collectively attributing to them the same justification that we attribute to God, reconciling all that will have led to our sanctification.

“Simulation theory isn’t falsifiable, like any other scientific argument for God.” That misses the point. Unlike other arguments, there’s serious negative consequence if we don’t trust in and work toward simulation theory (and its stronger formulation as the New God Argument).

“The official was not authorized to discuss the ongoing operation and spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity.” My esteem for government intelligence employees decreases each time I read a sentence like this. If you think you need anonymity, don’t talk about it.

So is criticizing Transhumanists for "the fantasy of living forever in a computer." He's a Christian, presumably aspiring to live forever in heaven. Does he see the irony? Mostly he loves the social capital he gets from attacking a straw man of Transhumanism.

I updated my personal website with a topical page on theosis -- the idea that humanity can and should become God, like God, or unified in God. Check it out. Let me know what you think.

“Everybody knows …” followed by a statement about a category of people has a high risk of being bigotry.

Hi . You should publish a pro-Transhumsnist opinion piece to fix the disinformation that this anti-Transhumsnist opinion piece cultivates.

Hi . While true of some Transhumanists, your criticism is a straw man. There’s no essential egotism or anti-religiosity in the ideology. To the contrary, there are large groups of religious Transhumanists.

Just finished a broad-ranging and thought-provoking interview about Mormon Transhumanism with Andreas Xirtus -- impressive 22K subscribers on YouTube. Check it out.

Giving-and-not-asking can be as egotistical as asking-and-not-giving. And if it’s not egotistical, it’s probably nihilistic. Christians, consider the Biblical precedent. Jesus gives. He also asks.

But I’ve been around the block a few times, so to speak. So I know your demonization of Transhumanists isn’t going to change based on anything I write here. Maybe you can at least give me a good quote to add here? :)

Seriously. Think about it. What is Christ’s power? It’s that of courage, compassion, and creation. And here you are criticizing those who value courage, compassion, and creation. So far as I can tell, that aligns you with antichrist.

On Sunday 12 February at 8pm in Provo, there will be a special private screening of Eternity at Last, a documentary about Transhumanism that includes me among featured protagonists. Friends and family are invited! Contact me privately for location details.

Not only were the scientists able to age mice on an accelerated timeline, but they could also reverse the effects of that aging and restore some of the biological signs of youthfulness to the animals.

And also gets the award for the slowest website that I've used this week. More time to look at the screen that shows an inept use of "666" in conjunction with IDs for a government service!

I mean, come on. I'm not a fan of paranoid religious fundamentalism. I think they merit criticism. And I'll even go out of my way to tease them occasionally. But this probably just reinforces their sociopathy. "See?!? Mark of the beast! I TOLD YOU!!!" ;)

US Government website (FAFSA): "If the student does not have a Social Security number because he or she is a citizen of a trust territory and this is his or her first time filling out the FAFSA form, enter 666 in this field." Seriously. Who the hell thought that was a good idea?

AI won't make our values or aspirations more beautiful, except within the context of our existing values and aspirations. We can be "enhanced" into devils as easily as, if not more easily than, we can be enhanced into Gods. In these fullness of times, both are being revealed.

Using GitHub Copilot for the first time. Wow. Should have started sooner. It provides solid code recommendations based on what I’m trying to accomplish. And the recommendations even reflect code that I’ve already written! It’s an understatement to say this will speed up coding.

The US DOJ announced a “major enforcement action” in the crypto space. Markets panicked. Then the announcement turned out to be about some exchange no one has ever heard about. I’m increasingly persuaded that US law enforcement is mostly incompetent in the crypto space.

For nearly two millennia, most Christians have been arguing or even fighting over who’s the best Platonist. Who’s right? Only a Pragmatist will ever be capable of deciding.

People make a lot of noise about valuing science. It seems, by that, most of us mean that we value whatever our favorite media outlets say about "science." How many of us actually review primary scientific literature to inform our opinions? How many of us know how?

Each week, I help provide church services in an assisted living center. Today, a memory care resident loudly commented during the communion, “My father lost his eye because he threw his body to save my mother and me.” A more appropriate communion commentary was never uttered.

Why have we sometimes preferred hardcover books to other forms of publication? Analogous reasons inform the value of NFT publications. They’re two forms of endurance. And there will be increasingly compelling syntheses of the two.

I asked a third-party lab to test potency of Thrivous Omega supplements manufactured over 2 years ago. Just received results. Omega 3 EPA and DHA are still 100% -- and still 5x more bioavailable than common Fish Oil. Replace all that Fish Oil that's going rancid on your shelf.
