Adding arcane explosion back for frost and fire and having it actually cost a decent bit of Mana and do good damage is by far my favorite change for mage in shadowlands. It might need seem like it, but this is a huge deal. Let me explain:

Mana has been mostly useless or a source of frustration to frost and fire mage for all of recent memory. For these specs Mana as a resource was a part of the game for two main reasons, lore and spellsteal. In actual gameplay it was irrelevant, unless you had buffs to steal.

This meant that we as mages essentially had a resource that only functioned as fuel for a utility ability. At best it was bland, at worse it causes some serious issues (especially for fire, which could run out of Mana on long fights in Legion).
