In the analogy of football players, is the practice them "farming AP" or actually getting better at the game? Because if you're saying that people should have to play live because it's not possible to learn anything from the tourney realms then I think you might be very confused.

On the other-hand, if you mean that we need to farm AP to earn the right to compete, I think the analogy makes even less sense. All of the most efficient ways to gain AP in the game come from the least interesting and meaningful content. Why have arbitrary barriers of entry?
Finally for my last point, why do you think that having the race take place on a tournament realm would somehow invalidate any of the other practice you do on live. These are not mutually exclusive things we are talking about here.

The race has always been about playing your best while also getting any advantages you can get. Having it take place on tournament realms wouldn't make it less competitive. If anything, it would level the playing field and I fail so see how this is a bad thing.

Tourney realm is the only way we’ll ever find out who the “world’s best” actually is, but it would be a fucking logistical nightmare. It would essentially cost a raid tier’s worth of brainpower/iteration to make it so it wasn’t a total fuckfest.
