It's actually not legal, they're exploiting the fact that the rules are never enforced AGAINST copyright claims to make super aggressive and illegal claims on other people's content. Fair users exists for a reason and what Roomie did was definitely fair use

This isn't fair use. A cover is never fair use. He didn't make an educational video, a critism or non-profit video (he had revenue on it). Would he make a video talking about why it's good/bad, how to learn to play it on an instrument or just make no revenue on it = fair use

Although you can argue that the song was a parody, and if I'm correct parody is also excusable under the fair use law. I'm not 100% sure tho

Still 100% of the revenue is a bit too much in my opinion considering that
@roomie like many other creators make a living out of YouTube. And that is one of the main issues, I mean that this companies don't treat creators like individual people, but rather like a product or sth1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes
Indeed sounds too much, but if it's only about 1 certain video it could have a very high detail background even he doesn't quite see. A.k.a he made a video using copyrighted material to recreate a copyrighted material and he hardly has his own work which skews the percentages.

When I say "hardly has his own work" = editing doesn't count. His face & voice is hardly part of it, most are not his own. Similarly cover bands make money from performances & technically nothing from CDs as they own nothing, even less (0) if they don't sing it up themselves.
