We’re excited to announce a major feature release! Service Health for Deployments is the first observability tool to automatically highlight what impacted your service’s performance during and after a deployment — and surface why it happened

0/ Hopefully you've heard by now that "the three pillars of observability" is really just a means of spending $$$$ on three (siloed) experiences that don't actually solve problems end-to-end. So what's a better way? Observability should be about *use cases*. Here's one:

Writing is the hardest part of the job, yet somehow, Rebecca Isaacs, Austin Parker, and I have managed to finish writing a book about Distributed Tracing. Publication later this year. You should all be _very_ excited 😀.

0/ Deep systems have come to the fore in recent years, largely due to the industry-wide migration to microservices. But weren't monoliths "deep", too? Well, yes and no. And this is all related to tracing, observability, and the slow death of APM. Thread:

Ohhh. This post on 'deep systems' is good. As things get more complicated (not just IT, right?) there are more and more things to consider and, well, we may not be equipped to understand everything. Knowledge helps! via

Alright. This is pretty unreal. I spent a lot of 2019 working closely with -- from a proof of concept to a full roll-out over here. Been very happy with the product and all of the people involved. As a thank you, I just received some custom Nikes. Mind blown.

you may have heard talk a lot about 'deep systems' and thought it doesn't apply to you because you don't have like a billion microservices or whatever. friend, your system is deeper than you think. read more @

Alex – my colleague (and co-conspirator on both Dapper and Monarch at Google) – delivered an *excellent* talk about how to reason about performance in modern services. Hint: it's a lot more than just measuring p99. :) Highly recommended!
