Also, kindness =\= niceness. Being “nice” means you’re cheerful & complimentary even when you don’t feel that way. Politeness & niceness are an act. They preserve the status quo. Kindness is revolutionary- it is the only weapon that will truly change the world for the better.

Being kind means you are not always polite or nice. That’s good. Because you shouldn’t be polite to the people who hurt others. But if you’re kind...you realize that not everyone is out to hurt others. And you leave your enemies less fodder for gaslighting.

Jesus truly knew what he was talking about when he said to love our enemies. He didn’t say to be polite to them. He said to love them.

The thing is, if we love our enemies, sometimes we come to the realization that WE are the ones hurting others. Other people aren’t the problem. We are the problem.
