    Ok, ready for my next action steps??? 1. Delete Twitter from my phone. 2. Take 2 weeks off. I'm so relieved. So thankful. So tired. And sending a big huge shiny THANK YOU to every single person who made this happen. There are too many to name and that's a fantastic feeling.

    I will forever be skeptical of legislators that allege bad things are happening when the activities associations in their states (the entities that sanction all participation) have no record of trans girls playing.

    Every Senator who has spoken so far voted *for* the bill the first time around. I point that out because I wasn’t anticipating any of them changing their minds. So I remain non-panicked. (But always mildly worried as is my nature).

    This will require a 2/3 vote. In the Senate that means they’d need to hit 31 votes in order to override.

    Looks like they Senate won’t wait until tomorrow. At 5 CT today they will take up consideration of Gov. Burgum’s HB 1298 veto. Send your emails now, folks!

    Both HB 1298 and HB 1323 now go to the Senate, which is set to take up override votes at 5 p.m. Neither bill previously passed with a veto-proof majority in the Senate.

    First opinion of the day is in Jones v. Mississippi. By a 6–3 vote with Kavanaugh writing, the court rules that a sentencer need NOT make a separate factual finding of permanent incorrigibility before sentencing a defendant under 18 to life without parole.

    If you're following HB 1298 and HB 1323 (a ban on mask mandates that the Gov also vetoed) you can use this action alert to e-mail your Senator.

    I'm not panicking right now (and if you know me you know I'm prone to panic). However, I'd encourage you to please reach out to your ND Senator and: 1) thank them if they voted no on HB 1298 in the past & 2) encourage them to sustain the Gov's veto and let HB 1298 be done.

    No substantive debate happening. Veto is overridden in the House 68 yea - 25 nay. Remember that we fully expected this to happen. Next step is an override vote in the Senate.
