Today we remembered the victims of homicides at the 13th annual Ceremony of the Crosses hosted by St. Columba Parish. Our deepest condolences to all who've lost loved ones - the whole Oakland community grieves with you. Let us rededicate ourselves in this new year to hope.

Measure AA, known as the Oakland Children’s Initiative, will also support college access for public school students, including scholarships, coaching and mentoring, and will invest almost $1 billion over the next 30 years for Oakland’s low-income students.

Finally, we will be able to give ALL children born in Oakland access to quality preschool and cradle-to-career supports to get to and through college for the next 30 years.  We must deliver on Oakland’s greatest promise – our children.

Honored to be recognized as a Pro-Housing City! In the past eight years, we've increased home-building at all income levels & doubled affordable housing production despite the end of Redevelopment. TY to our professionals, our community, & the voters!

Today we are so fortunate to be able to give gifts and holiday cheer to 1300+ families. A big thanks to the forty volunteers and countless donors who helped our Mayor's Toy Drive make the holidays bright for Oaklanders 💝

Closing out my time as Chair of , I'm so grateful for all we've achieved together—including securing the first-ever direct homelessness funding to cities. Looking forward to the leadership of @ShengForOakland !

Last night we made it official by signing the paperwork to give back five acres of City land to its original owners. I hope the work we are doing in Oakland with the Sogorea Te’ Land Trust can serve as a model for other cities on giving #LandBack to Indigenous communities.
