Rishi Sunak has the responsibility to support the millions of jobs that cannot be done remotely while #Lockdown2 is not the catastrophe you imply.
The Cabinet should know by now which jobs are worth saving for the Covid19 future and introduce Universal Basic Income.

This would make no difference to the spread of covid in university halls where most of the cases are at present. Slowing the spread in schools could be achieved with a week of remote learning post half term. No need for economic shutdown
-
Yes, remote learning for further & higher education too (closing halls) only penalises those who study vocational/technical subjects, but the resilience they have means
#Lockdown2 &#UBINow save lives you think expendable to keep the rich getting richer (landlords and investors).

Yep ... let it go as it is and 500,000 will die. There is no capacity in the NHS, no tracing capacity, no testing capacity. Tories better have planes on the runway to get out.

This is the right call from
@EdwardJDavey The opposition parties are, collectively displaying a great deal more competence about dealing with Covid-19, than Johnson and his shambolic, loyalty over talent, cabinet are. - End of conversation

If ever there were a time to be genuinely “led by the science” it is now, before the disease runs entirely out of control. Extraordinary that government is still umming and ahing about the need for a “circuit breaker” over half term when it would cause least damage to children.

There is no better time to rule that
#Lockdown2 is essential than now. Half-term is when many parents will have childcare arrangements in place and the science shows Tier 3 costs lives to an accelerating virus and incompetent cabinet. It must be accompanied by a support package.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

-
I think it’s because so many places are so much worse than us.
