  The reality is that none of this will change my life in the slightest, nor will it for the vast majority. If only he just said that he was sorry & he had made an error I genuinely think most would say dumbass & move on from it. It's become way more than it actually is now.

  This is exacty what is wrong with our politics; shamelessly point scoring and manipulating the emotions of people. This issue is all about a wealthy guy that is able to isolate in a beautiful family estate. The 'one rule for him' argument is simply an outlet for this envy.
