While a badge is welcome, Ministers have still not managed to provide all carers with the protection they desperately need. We cannot send tens of thousands of frontline workers to care for people as they fight this virus without adequate protection.https://www.politicshome.com/news/article/matt-hancock-criticised-for-giving-care-home-workers-a-badge-amid-fears-of-mounting-deaths …

If we had taken up the EU on its offer at the start we would not be in this dire position of PPE (and testing) shortages cf Germany.

Maybe my sister (who has diabetes) who works in a retirement home can put the badge over her face to protect those who live in the home, herself, and her colleagues!

It's not welcome. It's meaningless. A badge is nowhere on the list of urgent needs.

Ts about time that all carers had the recognition and respect that nhs workers have (and entitlements) but a scabby badge that isn’t even a new initiative right now, really is insulting. PPE, safe working environments and a decent pay would be more welcomed

How about @MattHancock wears a badge so that everyone knows he's a spineless oxygen thief? Get the PPE sorted Mr Hancrook, you've been promising it for long enough. Nurses are facing the sack because they are asthmatic and cannot work without the equipment you say that they have.

Problem is that everyone's trying to buy the same equipment. Macron admitted France didn't have enough (can you imagine reaction if Hancock said that). The supposedly brilliant EU Bulk-Buy scheme has currently delivered nothing at all (UK has managed to get some)

No. A badge is a meaningless gesture in the face of this crisis. Bit disappointed this tweet opens with that remark tbh.
