I was under the impression its more childcare than education, so all children will be in same position in September,surely that money could be used for all other things government are paying out

If school continue to deliver lessons as usual and those at home have to me taught by parents, social mobility will be even more tainted. How about make it necessary for schools to keep kids in their care SAFE, while all this is happening and worry about lessons later.

If schools are mostly closed and kids are learning remotely from home that would surely cost less than running a large school

If some schools continue to deliver lessons & others don’t it will be a disaster for social mobility.
