Every hospital presentation suspected case IS being tested. Staff in PHE and NHS laboratories up and down the country are busting a gut to cope with the testing demand. The PCR test is being rolled out to more labs and capacity has been increased. It is not possible to test more.

Held up by whom, personally I think that it should be the medics not boris doing the interviews and making the statements about a medical condition.

They're busy trying to deal with this shit storm, this is not a PR exercise, lives are at stake. It's the job of political leaders and heads of state to reassure and direct the public in difficult times like this, after taking advice from relevant organisations like WHO.

I rather think it's the other way round. Look at Adam Karcharski and Jake Dunning on here, there is the science, epidemiology and modelling which is being used to inform the response.

UK scientists advising government have got it wrong and criticism from other scientists is percolating through, some from abroad. Your job is to evaluate conflicting methodologies. Blind acceptance of UK ''science led'' policy is a cop-out.
