Yes. You said it. It’s a shame that we’ve all got to find a way to weed racism out of everyday life here in 2020. My daughter has school mates who are saying they’re glad ‘they’re in xyz campus’ of the new super school as the ‘abc’ campus is for ‘them muslins & Chinese viruses’

Happened to me! When I was in medical school, many of us would swim at the local YMCA pool. Taking off facemask at the end of an OR case, a resident looked over at me & said that😂 You could’ve heard a scalpel drop.

Words matter. Coronavirus is not a Chinese disease and actions matter too. Racism stops with all of us.

'Where are you from?' What does that even mean? Your place of birth? Your ethnicity? Where you've lived for the longest? Is the person who asks trying to say, 'You're not from around here?' There are no lines dividing nations when you look down on earth from outer space...

It can take 60 seconds to tell a patient they have . But the words we use will reverberate in their minds for a lifetime.

I think means civvies 😆 At the shopping centre, I once ran into a much loved scrub nurse I hadn't seen for ages. As we literally ran to hug each other she screeched 'OMG I'VE NEVER SEEN YOU WITH CLOTHES ON!!!' Ooh the looks.😳

Letter in Student BMJ c1981: a leukaemic child died suddenly while Mum was absent. The doctor who had to tell her apologised for weeping. 'If you aren't with your child as he dies, you'd want him to be with a person who would weep,' she wrote. 'Never apologise.'

Pregnancy is a normal part of life, and may occur during medical training. It doesn’t need to be a big deal. Pleased to have this great resource to complement pregnancy discussions with our trainees.
