What message the rest of the world will get from China’s military parade? Guess “peace” isn’t going to be high on the list. Probably reinforces some of the negative perceptions. It’s a largely domestic play, stoking the 1.3 billion with patriotic/nationalistic pride. But for what?

A country of that size and massive population with a long history of aggression/bullying from other powers, it’s a perfectly natural development in having the very best possible economic/military to prevent a repeat and safeguard national interests.

Well said. If other countries, especially US(having bases surrounding China) and its allies, respect China and maintain peace, China will not be making any move.

Perhaps to tell the USA that it can no longer bomb Chinese embassies with impunity? Just guessing, of course.

There is a need when the need arises!! Besides, along this, there is a number of side benefits in economic perspectives and few other protection/reputation/deterrence and caution reasons in the action and attitude.

That's a trick to control population—give it a mythical enemy to unite, make it blind as to own government wrongdoing, and even make proud of it. USSR and later Russia also did that. —How to make people blind and give the last shirt to a government? —Create enemy and scare ppl.
