Remember all the fuss about the China Dream? Beijing wants greater sway over global public opinion. Instead, its propaganda outlets help run up a huge soft power deficit when confronted with the biggest challenge to its rule in 30 years.https://www.nytimes.com/2019/08/20/business/china-hong-kong-social-media-soft-power.html?smid=nytcore-ios-share …

I like the quote at the end: “The best propaganda is not propaganda, because during the Information Age, credibility is the scarcest resource.”

After living in the US for >10 years, what it amazes me the most in the 2016 election is the disinformation effort by the media&intelligence to blame the election of Trump and rise of nationalism in the west on the disinformation by Russia. China definitely has a lot to learn.pic.twitter.com/nnWhh2rkFj

The West has a monopoly on the world media for more than a century. Chinese media is new to the game. Of course it is no match to the West. However, Chinese are fast learners. They will adapt and break the West’s firm grip on the media.

Communist China use money to buy friends. Without US$ they have no power at all.

the progressive ideas of the modern world are in fundamental conflict not just with dictatorial Communism, but more importantly with the traditional ethnocentric "Weltanschauung" of the Han Chinese (#Sinicisation, #TianXia and all that crap ;-)
