I thought the world was overpopulated and we didn’t want an ever-expanding world population? And yet this always presented as a crisis rather than an opportunity.

The effects of the one-child policy are largely exaggerated - since it fits the popular stereotype of a Chinese dystopian state controlling its people. In reality, it applied to only half the Chinese population, and the other half could always pay a fine to have another child.

Correct, I know many people who have more than one child. The western aligned journalists talk a lot of bullshit.
