Why are people so worried about what the Wuhan virus could do to the global economy? Take just one example: During SARS, China accounted for less than 5% of global tourism. Now it's 17%

I interviewed Doctor Li Wenliang who was lying in his sickbed via text messages. I hope his braveness can touch more people around the world. As a chinese saying goes, we can’t let those carrying the firewood for the group freeze in the snowstorm. 为众人抱薪者,不可使其冻毙于风雪

We talked to a dozen patient families. What we heard was sheer desperation. Some could only watch their beloved one die at home. Some patients had to walk hours to the hospital. Some patients had to wait in the hospital for 14 hours. The words came up most are 等 and 没办法。

The whole country is semi-lockdown. No foreign leaders are visiting. He needs to set a good example of not gathering with friends and families. So what's left for him to do?

This is tragic. Millions of small business could be ruined as a result of the Coronavirus. Wonder if the government will do anything more than pay lip service

China depends more on consumption&services than it did during SARS. That's why the current epidemic could be much more devastating if the shutdown continues.“The whole society has come to a standstill with almost zero consumption,"said a consumer brand CEO

This is a weird moment. I’m sitting in NYC’s only Wuhan food establishment, rushing through a bowl of 热干面, yet also listening to NYT Daily’s episode about the Wuhan coronavirus, checking the news my friends sent in Wechat, and trying to hold back tears.
