I know so many high functioning alcoholics. I’m not judging, I smoke weed everyday and I get we all cope in our own way. But weed doesn’t make me violent, depressed, hungover, or bloated. Alcohol be out here ruining lives

Binge drinking excessively in our 20s is so normalized that we just let ppl walk around being alcoholics and never ask if they’re fine and why they’re drinking so much. Drunkenness is apart of American culture

Once read on here or Facebook don't remember which, ”Alcoholism is viewed as fun if you're a college student or a ”wine mom” everyone else is a drunk.

“Wine Mom”...had no idea how much of a thing this was until I had kids and hung out with Moms trying to cope. Then began noticing how many strong female TV characters don’t eat, only drink wine at night. (Scandal, Good Wife) US is broken w/ many managing parenthoood this way.

Literally taking a break because alcoholism is rampant in our generation and no ones talking about it. This is when the habits get created and you find your vice. Alcohol as a vice leads to an incredibly dark road.

When I was 20 and didn’t drink people thought I was weird and would ask if I was okay. When I was 21 completely drunk from 8pm to 4am up to 5 times a week people didn’t ask a thing. Now that I managed to stop drinking like that people ask if something is wrong.

Drinking can actually intensify whatever you’re going through. That’s a misunderstanding some people have. If you’re in the wrong place, all it does it open the flood gates and put you at the whims of your pain

Same in the UK too. I don't drink alcohol because it tastes bitter. coming to uni I found out people don't drink alcohol for the taste but to literally get drunk...
